Political parties in Somalia’s semiautonomous region of Puntland have launched preparations for the local elections that are due in 2021.
Several parties have started moving around to campaign for elective posts available in next year’s elections in the region.
On Thursday, one of the parties, Horseed Party, sent its executive committee to Eyl, an ancient city in Somalia, for a meet-the-people tour.
During the tour, members of the party’s executive committee took the opportunity to discuss several issues with local residents.
Horseed is only one of the main political players in the region.
Consequently, it is expected that more parties would launch campaigns to familiarize voters with their policies and candidates.
