Reports indicate that the Qatari government is on the verge of sending a planeload of delegates to deliver medical supplies to Somaliland.
The supplies are to equip Somaliland with more resources needed to undertake a successful fight against COVID-19, which is ravaging the country.
COVID-19 has become a huge threat in the entire Horn of Africa region.
However, countries such as Somaliland are expected to suffer the worst effects because of decades of broken health systems and an economy that is still in the doldrums.
Multiple local sources have intimated that the national committee tasked with preventing the further spread of the virulent disease will receive the donation from the Qatari delegates.
Nevertheless, official confirmation of this story is still awaited.
In the meantime, other reports indicate that Egyptian and Turkish governments are expected to offer similar donations to Somaliland.
