Qoorqoor Asks Jubbaland and Puntland Leaders to Attend Dhusamareb Talks

Galmudug’s President Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qoorqoor has urged the leaders of Jubbaland and Puntland states to attend the ongoing Dhusamareb talks.

The third round of Dhusamareb talks kicked off on Monday.

President Mohamed Farmaajo of the Federal Government of Somalia arrived for the talks on Saturday despite reports indicating that he might not attend.

HirShabelle’s President Mohamed Abdi Waare and Southwest’s President Abdiasis Mohamed Lafta-Gareen are also in Dhusamareb for the talks that focus primarily on the upcoming polls.

However, Puntland’s Said Abdullahi Deni and Jubbaland’s President Ahmed Mohamed Islam Madobe have not shown up for the talks.

Qoorqoor has therefore appealed to the two leaders to have a change of a heart.

Further, he said that Somalis, especially the leaders, are capable of ensuring the full implementation of the agreements signed during the talks.

Both Madobe and Deni have indicated their reluctance to attend unless the international community sends representatives to the talks to “guarantee implementation of agreements.”

Their concerns come amid reports from Mogadishu that Farmaajo promised to table any agreement reached in Dhusamareb to the House of Representatives for ratification.
