Galmudug’s President Ahmed Abdi Karie Qoorqoor has expressed gratitude to Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers for the return of stability and calm in Guri-El town.
On October 29, President Qoorqoor spent time visiting the SNA troops based in the town.
During his visit, Qoorqoor commended the soldiers for the hard work they put in to maintain stability in the region.
He was speaking a few days after the joint efforts of the SNA and Galmudug Regional Forces helped chase Ahlu Sunna militants out of the town.
Last Saturday, fighting broke out in the city between Ahlu Sunna and government troops.
More than 100 lost their lives in the three-day clashes.
Hundreds of thousands more were displaced while over 600 suffered injuries.
Qoorqoor has been in Guri-El since Thursday meeting with local authorities, elders, youths and women, as well as the military officials.
