President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo of the Federal Government of Somalia has said the decision to rebuild Somali National Army (SNA) into a strong force has weakened Al-Shabaab.
Farmaajo, who was addressing a panel discussion facilitated by the Raas Institute, said that Somalia is winning the war on terror.
He mentioned that SNA had made strong gains over the Al-Qaeda linked militia during his presidency.
Furthermore, he hailed SNA for liberating many parts of the country from the constant bombings and deadly attacks by the extremists.
“Most places in Southern Somalia have been liberated by joint efforts from SNA, African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), and US Africa Command (AFRICOM),” Farmaajo stated.
However, he also threw spanner into the works by controversially claiming that several journalists in Somalia have close links with Al-Shabaab.
