The eagerly awaited elections talks in Mogadishu are scheduled to kick off on Thursday after the remaining leaders of Federal Member States (FMS) arrived in the capital on Wednesday.
President Abdiaziz Lafta-Gareen, President Mohamed Abdi Waare, and President Ahmed Kariye Qoorqoor of Southwest, HirShabelle, and Galmudug are already in Mogadishu for the talks.
They will be joining their colleagues, President Said Abdullahi Deni of Puntland and President Ahmed Islam Madobe of Jubbaland, who have been in the capital since last week.
The regional leaders are in Mogadishu to discuss issues relating to the upcoming elections in the country.
President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) called Deni and Madobe to the talks after the two regional leaders skipped Dhusamareb III.
Although the talks were to be primarily between Farmaajo, Deni, and Madobe, the two regional leaders asked for the invitations to be extended to their absent colleagues.
Before departing for Mogadishu, Lafta-Gareen had met Waare and Qoorqoor in Baidoa first.
