A renowned journalist based in the HirShabelle administrative capital of Beledweyne has been arrested.
Abdulkadir Dulyar was arrested on the morning of December 24.
Reports show that Dulyar was arrested after authorities stormed the hotel he was staying in allegedly under the orders of the new HirShabelle Vice President.
Since HirShabelle elections, which took place on November 12, HirShabelle has not enjoyed much peace and stability.
HirShabelle has been rocked by protests over those poll results.
General Abukar Haji Warsame Hud has taken a leading role in organizing the protests.
Reports indicate that Dulyar met with and interviewed General Hud, a move that shocked security agencies in the volatile region.
Dulyar’s media colleagues confirmed his arrest.
Nobody knows where authorities have taken or detained Dulyar although his colleagues are following up the matter.
