Security authorities have reported that a roadside blast in Baidoa killed five people while injuring 15 others on Sunday.
An unnamed police officer reported the explosion of a landmine near a camp hosting Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) just on the outskirts of Baidoa Town.
“A blast near a Baidoa IDP camp killed several people while injuring others who were celebrating Eid-al-Fitr,” the officer said.
However, the officer said more casualties could be reported since many people were in the area marking the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
A government spokesperson confirmed the incident saying that a landmine exploded in an area full of people celebrating Eid-al-Fitr.
No organization has claimed responsibility for the incident.
