Roble and Opposition Leaders to Meet over Elections amid Increased Pressure from International Partners

Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) is to hold a series of meetings with opposition leaders over the elections impasse.

This news comes amid reports of increased pressure from Somalia’s international partners.

The country’s international partners are apparently unhappy about the possibility of delayed elections in Somalia.

Roble’s meetings with opposition leaders are expected to kick off on January 5, 2021.

According to several sources close to the Prime Minister, he will be meeting Abdirahman Abdishakur, the leader of the Wadajir Party.

Abdishakur is also one of the members of the recently launched Council of Presidential Candidates Union, a body that brings all the opposition candidates together.
