Roble and Opposition Politicians to Discuss Elections Security in Thursday’s Meeting

Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble’s meeting with opposition politicians on March 4 would focus on elections security.

Thus far, Roble has met with the Council of Presidential Candidates Union twice.

The first meeting was on February 25 while the second one followed five days later on March 1.

Now, the Prime Minister is scheduled to meet with the opposition candidates on Thursday this week.

At the meeting, Roble and the opposition would be putting more emphasis on discussing who will be in charge of security in the upcoming elections.

Opposition politicians believe this is important as “the constitutional mandate” of federal/state institutions has ended.

Moreover, the discussions are also likely to delve into the role of the Council of Presidential Candidates Union on elections talks.

The union has unsuccessfully sought to be included or invited into such talks in the past.

Usually, the talks tend to primarily feature participants from the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Federal Member States (FMS).
