Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble held discussions with the United Nations Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs on February 24.
Thursday’s discussions between the Prime Minister and Adam Abdelmoula, the UN Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, focused on the drought situation in Somalia.
The East African nation is currently experiencing what has been variously described as its worst drought in 40 years.
During their discussions, Roble and Abdelmoula spoke of the importance of mobilizing government and aid agencies to respond to the worrying situation effectively.
Close to 4.3 million Somalis in the country are at risk of starvation, diseases, and death.
More than 250,000 families have had to flee their homes to seek humanitarian assistance elsewhere.
