Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble held discussions over the leadership of Somaliland Electoral Commission with two senior leaders.
On August 2, two days after returning from London, Roble negotiated this issue with Speaker Abdi Hashi of the Upper House and Mahdi Gulaid, the Deputy Prime Minister.
Speaker Hashi is the seniormost representative from Somaliland in Mogadishu.
The Chairmanship of Somaliland Electoral Commission has a source of conflict between Speaker Hashi. Deputy Prime Minister Gulaid, and a host of leaders in Mogadishu and Hargeisa.
During the negotiations, Roble urged the two leaders to bury their differences, solve this issue, and ensure that Upper House elections proceed on schedule around the country.
Two Federal Member States (FMS) have already held senatorial (Upper House) elections. These are Jubbaland and Southwest.
