Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has urged Federal Member States (FMS) to nominate their representatives for the electoral committees within the next three days.
In September, a National Consultative Meeting between Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and FMS agreed to form regional electoral committees to handle the upcoming elections.
The five regional states are also expected to form dispute resolution committees.
As per last month’s signed agreement, the dispute resolution committees would be responsible for handling any complaint that arises out of the elections.
On October 17, the Office of the Prime Minister released a communiqué stating that each regional state has three days to name two members each for the two committees.
The electoral and disputes committees should have been in place a long time ago, especially now that elections are drawing near fast.
