Roble Rubbishes Decision by Farmaajo to Suspend His Powers to Fire and Hire

Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has rubbished the decision by President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo to strip him of the powers to fire and hire government officers.

Roble said this on September 16 a day after Farmaajo suspended him from hiring and firing officials of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).

Farmaajo made this move in response to the recent sacking of Fahad Yasin and Hassan Hundubey Jimale.

Yasin had been the Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA).

On the other hand, Jimale had been the Minister of Internal Security.

Roble sacked both officials over the murder of Ikran Tahlil, a female NISA officer.

While dismissing Farmaajo, Roble said that the President’s tenure ended on February 8, 2021. He asked Farmaajo to stop interfering with the cabinet and judiciary.

Furthermore, Roble said that President Farmaajo had already violated Article 100, which gives the Prime Minister the power and authority to appoint and dismiss public officials.
