Macallin Muxudiin Kulmiye, the District Commissioner of Ruun-Nirgood in the Middle Shabelle region, has disclosed details of a pre-dawn military operation that dealt a significant blow to Al-Shabaab militants in the area.
In an interview with the national media, DC Kulmiye stated that the carefully coordinated operation successfully overran a major Al-Shabaab stronghold, now under government control. He emphasized that the Somali National Army, supported by local forces, remains engaged in ongoing security efforts to ensure full stabilization.
The offensive reportedly destroyed the militants’ defensive positions, solidifying government and local forces’ grip on security in Ruun-Nirgood.
Military operations against Al-Shabaab are continuing across multiple hideouts, with several militants—including high-ranking commanders responsible for terrorizing civilians—neutralized in recent actions. National forces are escalating their campaign to eradicate the terrorist group’s presence in the region.
