Turkey’s second batch of COVID-19 medical supplies arrived in Somalia on Monday.
The medical supply is designed to help the East African country to curb the spread of COVID-19, which has so far claimed the lives of over 30 people.
COVID-19 has hit Somalia hardest with the number of confirmed cases in the country approaching 900 fast.
The military plane carrying the medical supplies departed Ankara’s Etimesgut Military Airport carrying beds, stretchers, and quilt covers.
On Saturday, the first batch of the donation from Turkey arrived at the Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu. Among the supplies were Turkish-made ventilators.
Somalia has no vibrant healthcare system following decades of clan conflicts, Al-Shabaab militia attacks, and wanton corruption.
Consequently, it has no ability to test citizens and foreigners in the country of COVID-19 without any external assistance.
