A second senior Al-Shabaab commander has been killed in Somalia in the last one week, security agents have confirmed.
Military sources confirmed that Danab Special Forces killed Mu’ad Dhere, a senior commander within the Al-Qaeda linked group.
His death is the second one of a senior commander of the militia group at the hands of the Danab Special Forces within the last seven days.
The Special Forces have been carrying out military operations against Al-Shabaab with the assistance of US Africa Command (AFRICOM) and African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).
Dhere was killed alongside 10 of his Al-Shabaab accomplices.
Danab soldiers raided his home in Sablale, Lower Shabelle on Tuesday morning.
He has been in charge of the militia’s operations in Lower Shabelle.
Dhere was killed a few days after the military executed Abdullahi Osman (Dhaga-Adde), another senior militant.
