The second Somali Diaspora Conference kicked off in Mogadishu on Monday.
Abshir Omar Jama Huruse, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, launched the conference today.
He commended the ministry’s Department of Diaspora Affairs for organizing and hosting the event.
Huruse said that the conference is important as it celebrates Somalis in the diaspora for their role in remitting foreign exchange into the country thus boosting Somalia’s gross domestic product (GDP).
