Security Forces Seal Off Mogadishu Roads

Security forces sealed off roads in Mogadishu ahead of planned demonstrations by anti-government protestors.

On Thursday, December 17, the government deployed its troops along the streets of the capital city after there were fears that protestors would return.

Protestors have been demonstrating along the streets since Tuesday.

They are demanding fair and credible elections while asking President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo to ensure that the country holds the polls on time.

The city is full of political tensions over elections.

Opposition politicians have vowed to continue holding protests in the city to voice their displeasure over preparations by Farmaajo’s administration for the elections.

With the roads closed, local residents were forced to walk long distances to work and various other destinations.
