Abdullahi M. Nor, the Minister of Internal Security, has ordered all intel agents at the Aden Adde International Airport to leave immediately.
The minister directed that the officers should comply with the new orders immediately.
He issued the order on January 1.
In his order, the minister expects Somali Police Force (SPF) officers to take sole responsibility of all security responsibilities at the airport from January 2.
To comply with the orders, Yasin Farey, the Acting Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), transferred security responsibilities to the police.
Later on Saturday, the internal security minister clarified that his orders only affect plain-clothed NISA agents working within the perimeters of the airport.
NISA agents stationed at the airport entrances are to remain in place.
