Security Operation Launched in Mogadishu Following Recent Attacks against Government Officials

The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has launched a security operation in the nation’s capital following recent attacks against its officers.

In the last few days, the government has seen several of its officers injured and killed in Mogadishu.

They have been reportedly targeted, injured, and killed by Al-Shabaab fighters.

On January 24, Somali Police Force (SPF) officers were deployed in several of street junctions in Mogadishu to search vehicles.

The operation followed last week’s murder of Hodon District Commissioner who had arrived back to the country from Turkey where he traveled to for medical treatment.

On Saturday, at least eight people were found murdered in Mogadishu by unknown people.
