Security forces are in high alert as the meeting between the leaders of the Federal Member States (FMS) gets underway in Dhusamareb today.
Dhusamareb, which is the administrative capital of Galmudug State, is under tight security as the regional leaders arrive for their meeting.
Security officers have been posted to all the main checkpoints to watch out for any possible threat from Al-Shabaab fighters.
The primary agenda of the meeting is to discuss the postponed 2020 elections.
However, the leaders from Galmudug, Puntland, Jubbaland, Southwest, and HirShabelle states are also expected to talk about security and constitutional review.
The relationship between FMS and the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) is also likely to come under sharp focus.
