Security has been tightened in Dhusamareb ahead of the meeting between Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Federal Member States (FMS).
The FGS-FMS meeting kicks off on February 1, 2021.
Last week, President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo announced that he would be meeting the five regional state leaders in Galmudug’s capital city.
Farmaajo promised to meet the FMS leaders after holding a meeting with foreign diplomats at Villa Somalia last week.
The five regional leaders are expected in Dhusamareb on Monday.
President Farmaajo and the regional leaders are scheduled to discuss several issues affecting the East African nation.
However, discussions on the electoral impasse are expected to dominate the meeting.
The FGS and FMS meeting is expected to last from Monday to Wednesday after which Farmaajo would address the Upper House and House of Representatives towards the end of the week.
Security forces are in Dhusamareb to ensure that Al-Shabaab militants in the region do not wreak havoc.
