Abdi Hashi, the Speaker of Senate (Upper House), attended the meeting of opposition leaders in Mogadishu on November 23.
Speaker Hashi arrived at Jazeera Hotel, the venue of the meeting, on Monday morning.
Currently, the opposition leaders are meeting for the third day. They are expected to continue with the meeting for the rest of the week.
Speaker Hashi has been a critic of President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo.
Mostly, he has criticized Farmaajo’s handling of preparations for the upcoming elections in the East African nation.
He has been against the decision by Farmaajo to appoint a controversial commission to facilitate the election of Somaliland’s Member of Parliaments (MPs).
A few days ago, he announced a different commission for the election of the MPs.
He is likely to be part of the ongoing efforts to pressurize Farmaajo to remove his loyalists, National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), and civil servants from the electoral commissions.
