Senator Abshir Axmad has said that President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo and the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) he leads cannot be trusted to organize “credible” elections.
Axmad, who also serves as the First Deputy Speaker of the Upper House, made these remarks in Mogadishu after attending the meeting organized by opposition presidential candidates.
The meeting, which is on its fifth day, is taking place at Jazeera Hotel in the nation’s capital.
While addressing the meeting on Wednesday, November 25, Senator Abshir said that Farmaajo and FGS have already violated the electoral deal signed in September 2020 with Federal Member States (FMS).
The First Deputy Speaker of the Senate urged for more consultations before the country holds presidential elections in February 2021.
