A senior operative with the militant Al-Shabaab group has surrendered to the Somali National Army (SNA).
Reports from Baidoa indicate that Idiris Abdullahi Moalim, the senior Al-Shabaab operative, handed himself to SNA officers on Wednesday, August 11.
Military sources have confirmed that Moalim was a member of Al-Shabaab for the last seven years.
He is reputed to have been the brains behind the militia group’s operations in not only Baidoa but other parts of the Baay region too.
