A court in Seychelles has delayed its ruling on whether to dismiss charges filed against five Somalis suspected of piracy.
Consequently, the Somalis are expected to remain in detention for another 14 days.
They would then have to reappear before the Seychelles Supreme Court after the court set the new date on December 10.
On Friday, November 27, Justice Gustave Dodin, was to give a verdict on the matter.
Joel Camille, the lawyer for the Somali suspects, said that Judge Dodin had requested more time to “conclude the ruling.”
Camille said that the defense had submitted a “no case to answer” appeal when making their submissions to the court.
The five Somalis were arrested in April 2019.
They were arrested on suspicion of capturing a Yemeni vessel just off the coast of Somalia on April 19, 2019.
