SHF Funds Cash for Work to Support IDPs

The Somalia Humanitarian Fund (SHF) has been funding a program that allows Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to work for cash.

SHF’s program is known as Cash for Work.

It operates the program with the help of a national non-governmental organization (NGO) in Somalia known as NoFYL.

Omar Abdillahi, one of the beneficiaries of the program, said, “Cash for Work allows us to not only clean our camps but also earn some money from it at the end of the month.”

Each month, all those who take part in the cleaning exercise are paid a bit of money to help them meet some of their basic needs.

The program has an added advantage in that it also opens pathways that allow easy movement within the IDP camps.

Such a program is currently running at Iskaashi IDP Camp, which is in Deynille District.
