Six soldiers with the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) lost their lives in a landmine explosion in Balcad.
The soldiers lost their lives when their convoy ran over a landmine in the town of Balcad on March 19.
Saturday’s incident was the work of Al-Shabaab militants, who have already claimed responsibility for the attack.
The dead soldiers were from Burundi.
They are part of AMISOM’s Burundian contingent.
Burundi has several National Defense Force (NDF) soldiers serving in Somalia as part of AMISOM.
Three other Burundian soldiers were injured in the incident.
