The United States has expressed concern about the slow pace of federal parliamentary elections in Somalia.
On February 16, the US said that the polls are proceeding at a sluggish pace.
In its view, Somalia is more likely to fail to meet the February 25 deadline that Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble set in January 2022.
Roble set the deadline at the end of the National Consultative Council (NCC) conference in Mogadishu last month.
Recently, a top US diplomat informed the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) of the need for stakeholders to stop detailing Somali elections.
The concerns by both the US and UN arise at a time the East African nation is caught up in a wave of deadly terror attacks.
