Senior officers from the Somali National Army (SNA) and African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) briefed President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo on the security situation in Lower Shabelle.
Recently, a few army bases in Lower Shabelle came under heavy attack from Al-Shabaab militants. The attack took place at Awdhegle and Barire army bases in the region on April 3.
The SNA and AMISOM officers visited President Farmaajo at Villa Somalia on April 18.
He was briefed despite the ramping up of pressure against the recent decision by House of Representatives to extend his term in office by two more years. Farmaajo’s term expired on February 8, 2021.
