Somali National Army (SNA) forces carried out an intense military operation in Bariire on Wednesday, May 25.
SNA’s Gorgor Special Forces were in charge of the operation.
Many suspected Al-Shabaab adherents fled the area when they encountered the team consisting of the army’s special forces.
Al-Shabaab terrorists were hiding in the nearby farmlands.
The operation enabled SNA soldiers to destroy one of the boats used by the militants when crossing the river.
They also destroyed several hideouts belonging to the militants.
