A special unit within Somali National Army (SNA) killed 25 Al-Shabaab extremists on January 9.
Military sources revealed that SNA’s Gorgor Special Forces carried out an operation on Sunday in Lower Shabelle.
During the operation, military officers encountered dozens of Al-Shabaab fighters.
The operation took place near a Lower Shabelle village known as Barire.
Gorgor soldiers received intelligence reports regarding the presence of the Al-Shabaab militants in the region.
Sunday’s incident left dozens more extremists injured.
