Somali National Army (SNA) troops killed 160 Al-Shabaab terrorists in weeklong counterterrorism operations carried out in the Southwest and HirShabelle states.
Daud Aweis, the federal Minister of Information, confirmed these stats when addressing members of the press on Wednesday.
Aweis was delivering the weekly media briefing on behalf of the government.
He added that the military also destroyed several hideouts, vehicles, and weapons during the operations held separately in both states.
