Somali National Army (SNA) killed a top Al-Shabaab leader in an operation carried out over the weekend.
SNA conducted the operation jointly with the local militia.
They killed Mohamed Isaaq Aw-rage, who was described as one of the most influential Al-Shabaab leaders in Mudug and Galgadud regions.
Aw-rage, who is also known as Maradade, has been involved in several violent acts in the region.
Military sources confirmed Maradade’s death. They added that he was killed when SNA and local militia ambushed him.
