Somali National Army (SNA) forces carried out military operations against several hideouts used by Al-Shabaab in Central Somalia.
The military raided the hideouts on Friday, October 23.
A fierce gunfight developed thereafter as the two sides fought.
The raid is part of the offensive campaign that the military continues to carry out against extremists in the country.
It is the latest in a series of raids carried out jointly by SNA, African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), and US Africa Command (AFRICOM) forces in the last seven months.
During the attack, SNA forces killed several militants.
Military sources have confirmed that no soldier was killed during the clashes.
Al-Shabaab has a huge presence in southern and central Somalia. Countrywide, it has around 7,000 fighters.
