SNA Receives Congratulatory Messages as it Celebrates 60th Anniversary

Somali National Army (SNA) has been receiving tons of congratulatory messages from different quarters as it celebrates its 60th anniversary.

President Mohamed Farmaajo praised SNA for the important role it is playing in fighting terrorism, which Al-Shabaab has brought to these shores.

Further, President Farmaajo hailed the role SNA plays in maintaining peace, law, order, and security throughout the country.

President Farmaajo issued a statement saying,” SNA remains our national symbol. We are grateful for the efforts it has put in to defend our national sovereignty.”

The President also clarified that the country has not reached where it should. Nevertheless, he vowed that his administration would continue its plans designed to reform and rebuild SNA.

SNA has been in existence since April 12, 1960 when it was established immediately the Horn of Africa nation got its independence.

While under the leadership of Siyad Barre, Somalia once boasted one of the continent’s most formidable militaries.

However, SNA is now on a rebuilding process after disintegrating during the 1990s Civil War. The country’s former transitional government reestablished SNA.
