SNA Repels Dawn Attack by Al-Shabaab Militants in Middle Shabelle

The Somali National Army (SNA), supported by local forces, successfully repelled a dawn attack by Al-Shabaab militants on Thursday morning.

The attack targeted multiple fronts, including the villages of Ciid Ciidka, Daaru Nicma, Ali Fooldheere, and Al Kawthar in the Middle Shabelle region of HirShabelle State.

According to a brief statement from Somalia’s Ministry of Defense, the terrorist group suffered a “heavy defeat” during the confrontation.

However, no further details regarding casualties or the extent of the damage were provided.

This incident underscores the ongoing security challenges in the region, as Al-Shabaab continues to launch attacks despite sustained counterterrorism efforts by the SNA and allied forces.

The Middle Shabelle region, in particular, has been a hotspot for such clashes, highlighting the group’s persistent threat to stability in Somalia.
