Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers killed 12 Al-Shabaab militants when they carried out a military operation in Lower Shabelle on Monday.
The soldiers carried out the operation in Lower Shabelle’s Barire town.
Major Ahmed Hassan, Commander of SNA’s 143rd Unit, confirmed that his troops participated in the successful operation against members of the Al-Qaeda linked group.
The operation took place at a time when the extremists have increased their attacks around the East African country.
Furthermore, it also comes as US African Command (AFRICOM) ups its airstrikes against the militants in various places around the country.
