Somali National Army (SNA) has launched an operation in HirShabelle that targets Al-Shabaab militants.
Military sources indicate that the operation took place on Friday, October 15.
General Mohamed Ahmed Tareedisho, who commands SNA’s 27th Division, confirmed the latest developments to the media.
Tareedisho stated that the military had recaptured several areas, including Haji Ali, from the control of the militants.
He urged the military to continue with their operations in HirShabelle and all surrounding regions.
Gen. Tareedisho stated that the government forces would redouble their efforts in the region until they eradicate the presence of the extremists.
