SODMA and UN Jointly Assess Impact of El Nino in Somalia

The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SODMA) will assess the impact of El Nino rains and floods jointly with several United Nations agencies.

SODMA announced the joint evaluation on Wednesday.

This would entail training 75 individuals to report the effects of El Nino in the East African nation in 2023.

Last year, Somalia experienced one of its worst El Nino rains and floods ever.

The floods displaced millions of people. It left hundreds more dead around the country.

This was revealed in a conference attended by representatives of World Bank and the European Union.

Officers from the Ministry of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development were present at the conference too.
