The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SODMA) has launched early warning and response systems in two regional states in the country.
SODMA held an event on Wednesday to herald the operationalization of the systems.
According to SODMA officials, the systems will be in HirShabelle and Southwest states.
The agency added that the project would enable communities to absorb climate-related incidents and shocks in the respective states.
The ongoing project would strengthen the capacity of first responders too.
Furthermore, it also endeavors to link the work of the first responders to the national disaster risk management systems.
