The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SODMA) sent 51 rescue boats to various parts of the country in anticipation of heavy rains and floods.
SODMA officials deployed the boats throughout the country on Monday.
While deploying the boats, SODMA Commissioner Mahamuud Moallim added that the Gu rains could usher in a period of intense flooding.
Most of the boats were sent to HirShabelle, Jubbaland, and Southwest regional states.
Commissioner Moallim urged Somalis around the country to move away from rivers and river banks due to flood risks.
