Six people, including a significant number of Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers, were killed when extremists rigged dead officers’ bodies with explosives.
According to sources in Goofgaduud, which is in the Bay region, the extremists rigged bodies of soldiers killed on Sunday with explosives.
The incident took place when the soldiers turned up at the scene of Sunday’s terror attack to collect the bodies of their dead colleagues for burial.
Earlier, the officers engaged Al-Shabaab militia in intense gunfight that lasted several hours.
Initial reports indicate that two soldiers died immediately from the blast. They were identified as Hassan Bakah, a base commander, and Buurey Ali.
Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack, which is the latest in a series of raids targeting army personnel.
