Somali Ambassador to Turkey to Vie in Puntland Elections

The Somali Ambassador to Turkey will vie in the elections expected to take place in the regional state of Puntland on Monday.

Amb. Jama Abdullahi Mohamed announced his resignation on Saturday.

He will participate in the elections expected to elect a new President and Vice President in the region.

Amb. Mohamed will vie for the Vice President’s seat.

He has served as Somalia’s Ambassador in Turkey since 2017.

The Ambassador expressed his gratitude to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for enabling him to serve the country diligently for the past six-and-a-half years.

Parliamentarians will elect the region’s new President and Vice President on January 8, 2024.
