Somali National Armed Forces (SNAF) launched a final offensive against Al-Shabaab militants in the Shabelle region.
The Chief of Defense Forces was in the region on Tuesday to launch the operations.
Brig. Gen. Ibrahim Muhiyidin, the SNAF Commander, launched the exercise in the presence of top security officers.
He assured the public that the army would work closely with Somalia’s international security partners to push the exercise to its logical conclusion.
Muhiyidin said that the terrorists are at their weakest.
Consequently, the army chief urged the military not to relent until they eradicate the remnants of the terrorist group from all parts of the region and the rest of the country too.
