On Sunday, several prominent artists in Somalia announced the release of a song on COVID-19 with support from the United Nations.
COVID-19 remains a huge threat in Somalia despite the increasingly low numbers the Ministry of Health has been reporting lately.
Aar Maanta, a popular Somali musician, said the artists had teamed up to compose and produce a song to warn fellow Somalis about the dangers of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The musicians teamed up with producer Waqal Studio on the song.
According to the artists, the song is designed to remind Somalis of the protocols recommended by the health ministry and World Health Organization (WHO).
In a joint statement issued on Sunday in Mogadishu, Maanta said this project is the first of many that different artists around the country intend to work on together.
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) supported both the song and the accompanying video.
Musicians who worked on the song are expected to promote it on their individual social media profiles. It will also be promoted on radio and TV to reach millions of Somalis around the globe.
