Somali Cabinet Approves Establishment of National Security Office

The Somali Cabinet, during their weekly meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Salah Ahmed Jama, approved an act to establish a National Security Office.

This proposal was brought forward by the Ministry of Interior Security in Thursday’s meeting.

The establishment of this office aims to enhance national security coordination and address various security challenges, including terrorism and insurgency.

In the same meeting, the Ministries of Defence and Interior Affairs provided updates on the current security situation in Somalia.

They briefed the Cabinet on ongoing military operations against the militant group Al-Shabaab, highlighting recent progress and challenges faced on the ground.

Additionally, the education ministry presented a comprehensive report on the status of primary and higher education in Somalia.

The report covered key issues such as access to education, quality of learning, and initiatives to improve the education sector’s overall performance and resilience amidst ongoing security concerns.
