Somalia’s Council of Ministers will hold an emergency meeting on Tuesday to discuss the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Somaliland and Ethiopia.
News regarding the MoU emerged on Monday evening.
The MoU was the result of discussions between Somaliland’s President Muse Bihi Abdi and Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
Somalia was left fuming with this development especially after President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s talks with President Bihi in Djibouti.
Somaliland agreed to Ethiopia’s request for access to the seaport of Berbera.
In return, Ethiopia will become the first country in Africa to accord Somaliland the international recognition it craves.
