The Somali Police Coast Guard, in partnership with the European Union’s Operation “Atalanta” and the Spanish Navy frigate Santa María (F-81), successfully carried out a joint maritime exercise.
The operation featured three speedboats and one helicopter and focused on critical training scenarios such as search and rescue operations with special focus on enhancing capabilities to respond to maritime emergencies.
Furthermore, more emphasis was on strengthening measures to deter and combat piracy in Somali waters using various anti-piracy tactics.
The importance of improving coordination and enforcement of maritime law procedures as well as regulations featured prominently in the joint operations.
This joint initiative aims to bolster collaboration, improve operational readiness, and ensure maritime security in the region.
